What is Pipe Bursting
Pipe bursting is a trenchless method used for the replacement of underground pipelines, which involves breaking the existing pipe and pulling a new pipe of the same or larger diameter into the space created by the broken pipe. This process is typically used to replace damaged, outdated, or undersized pipes without the need for excavation, resulting in less disruption to the surrounding area and a faster, more cost-effective solution.
ACCESS
A bursting head is inserted into the existing pipeline through an access point or a small excavation.
PULLING
The bursting head is then pulled through the pipeline, breaking the old pipe into pieces and pushing them out into the surrounding soil.
REPLACE
At the same time, a new, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe is simultaneously pulled into the same space left by the broken pipe.
COMPLETION
Once the new pipe is in place, connections are made at either end of the pipeline, and the system is ready for use.
